Ingredient Transparency

With customers increasingly looking for a stripped-back and more eco-conscious aesthetic, you can expect cosmetics companies to become more and more transparent in their ingredient list, touting words such as “natural,” “simple,” and “clean.” If you want to be on the cutting-edge of this trend, opt for products that are paraben-, fragrance, BHA-, and BHT-free.

Blue Beauty

Blue beauty is the latest trend within the clean beauty movement. Blue beauty refers to products that aim to protect the oceans and water supplies, such as sun creams that are nontoxic to coral reefs. Unlike green beauty, blue beauty revolves specifically around the impact that cosmetics packaging and ingredients have on our marine life, as well as reducing water wastage.

Glass Skin

First appearing on the beauty scene in 2019 but becoming increasingly popular in recent months, the glass skin trend originated in Korea, and refers to clear, luminous, seemingly transparent skin. For clients looking to transform a mottled complexion into dewy, poreless skin that seems to exude a natural glow, you’ll want to know how to perfect the glass skin look. Glass skin requires a veritable tool kit of products, including cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizers, masks, and mists. Graphic Eyeliner

Bright colors will remain big in 2021, with the trend extending beyond nails, eyeshadow, and lips to include liner. Look out for bold-hued eyeliner in blue, yellow, and other head-turning tones. Graphic eyeliner may either be used on its own to create a striking, unusual look, or paired with complementing eyeshadow. Expect large cat-eyes and outlines of two or three shades that will make you think of Andy Warhol and other pop art maestros.

Faux Freckles

At the Jason Wu stage for this fall’s New York Fashion Week, Gigi Hadid donned faux sun-kissed freckles with the help of liquid lipstick and blush. Faux freckles allow for a youthful appearance, whether paired with preexisting freckles or on their own. There are many different methods of applying fake freckles — including eyeshadow, eyeliner, oil, henna, and more — so you will likely have to use some trial and error to find the best fit for you.
